so i was catching up on my email recently, and came across this bit of news from boomerang. they were all rah-rah about gaming as a career. now, while i feel strongly about that scenario, it’s pretty interesting to read. personally, i’ve found that it’s sharpened my reflexes and improved hand-eye coordination.
As it turns out, the kids are on the right track. One study shows gaming actually developed problem-solving and team-building skills among summer camp attendees, while another showed three hours of gaming per week increased surgeons’ accuracy when operating. Not only is it good for the mind, it seems to be an excellent career choice. A major Hollywood company just opened a 3D video game development studio in Montreal, confirming the city’s rank as an industry hot spot. And some animators are heading back to their drawing boards, literally, as hand-drawn stories make a comeback.
the article itself is a bit too vague for my liking, but it illustrates a few good points. plus, maybe finally gamers won’t be shunned at parties? only time will tell.
