well friends, recently i picked up red dead redemption. i have been buying, and helping friends buy a crazy amount of shit over at best buy over the past few months. they’ve got this best buy rewards program where you get points back for shopping there. i had so many certificates i scored the game for $30. even the sales guy was impressed.
anyway, over the weekend, little_nerdxo and i went crazy for this game. saturday we played here and there, however we were good humans in the evening and socialized. but sunday? we played 11 straight hours. while the storyline is doing nothing for me, it’s still ok. i haven’t quite been able to figure out why john marston just DOES stuff for people. he’s some badass outlaw doing good deeds? eff that! little_nerdxo has a theory that since he was such a badass: he’s trying to atone for his past by just being a nice guy.
whatever. whether he’s trying to reap karmic benefits or has turned into some candy-ass shell of his former self, this game is wonderful. the scenery alone will keep you captivated. before i had the game, a bunch of us were watching a ufc fight a couple of weeks back and this game came up in conversation. one guy made a comment about how he watched the thunderstorms for an hour. at the time, i thought ‘what a nerd’. then i SAW a thunderstorm, and pretty much did the same thing.
it’s rapidly turning into an addiction for me. not quite as bad as fallout 3, but i still throw away a ton of time. my new favourite thing to do is go hunting. i shoot and bag everything that moves. i’m gathering whatever i can to sell it in faraway lands, and exploring new territory and meeting new people. reality? oh yeah, i met that guy once. we had a beer.
thank you, rockstar, for turning me into an addict.
