i have tried to be objective in this blog. after all, i am an award-winning journalist and to be unbiased is so important. it shows a great deal of character, i feel.
it is, of course, difficult to remain unbiased when the right answer is staring you in the face. i get asked this question a lot: in the matter of playstation vs other consoles, what made me pick the playstation?
so i joke, saying that i always pick quality. however, when pressed, i say this with every ounce of conviction: it’s better. playstation versus wii is a no-brainer. even if you’re a casual gamer, having the ps3 makes sense. you can watch dvds on it, or listen to music. good luck doing that with the wii.
playstation vs xbox360… meh. sure, it might have some exclusive games. it’s also got a lot wrong with it. the red ring of death, anyone? do i really need to hold up the big old chart of failure rates?
what it comes down to is less about war, and more about personal choice. the wii is for a casual gamer. the xbox has some good games, but with the hidden costs, plus the failure rate… well, just made more sense to go with the ps3. plus, i don’t have to pay that annual mandatory fee.
however, if none of the above convinces you, check out this article from ign detailing the difference between ps3 and xbox 360. it has an amazing look at everything on both consoles, and does not play favourites.
