anything mario can do, you can do better, am i right? of course i am. via kotaku, i found out how to make your own coin box. oh sure, let’s all make a joke about punching a box. done? can we be adults now? great.
anyway, it’s basically a mechanism and a sweet paint job. either way, i am so jealous.
lego helmet halo
you know, i always really enjoy stuff like this. i found it one day via technabob.
Ben Caulkins (aka Benny Brickster) created this helmet. Naturally, it’s wearable, but how comfortable is it? It includes some well-placed padding, just to make things easier if he wants to wear it around town. And let me state the obvious, the visor was not made from LEGOs – it came from a motorcycle helmet.
thumbs up for the nerd, ladies and gentlemen.
pacman hat of champions
another day, another batch of ‘i-can’t-believe-it’s-not-shitty’ listings on etsy. there are a surprising amount of pacman hats on etsy. what is even more surprising? the fact that they mostly don’t suck. plus, they’re actually creative. shock!
i say worth it, obviously. winter is coming and style is needed. as you can see from a sample photo to your left, you could be the envy of all your friends.
nintendo coffee table
wow. i thought i had seen some cool coffee tables in my time, but nothing prepared me for this. this is from a guy named kyle downes, who lives in the land down under. yes – an australian. he’s made this nintendo coffee table, which also doubles as storage space.
what’s really great though, is that in addition to building this amazing thing, he has also provided blue prints so that we can all jump in and share the awesome. he advises though to make a list of the tools you’ll need.
well done, kyle. we need more of this.
super mario ipad cases
you know, there have been many times that i have found myself wishing for an ipad. both of my bosses have one, and i have to say that it’s honestly made our lives easier. we impress clients. we impress other employees. fuck, we even impress each other.
i’ve been holding out on getting one though, since i feel like it’s just a bit too much connectivity. you know? i mean, when i am at the office, i have the computer. i have a computer at home, like most of us do. in transit, i’ve got a blackberry.
i feel that’s enough. i don’t want to be doing work on a crowded train, watched by people. i don’t want to be doing spreadsheets and excel documents. i don’t want to be drafting a powerpoint presentation while the subway lurches and grinds its way to wherever the fuck i’m going. do i need to check email THAT badly while on the bus? honestly, no. no, i do not.
then i saw this shop on etsy called ‘hooby groovy‘ that makes me want an ipad. they’re other classic characters from the super mario games. running about $40, they’re just too cute.
oh etsy. even though you most of the time spew out an impressive and untalented amount of crap, you still sometimes manage to do something good. this is from Par Amour Designs, and is going for $25. granted, that’s US dollars, but still. pretty worth it. here’s the description:
This bangle measures 3/4″x3/8″ with an inner diameter of 2 5/8″, and will fit a medium woman’s wrist. These can be made in a small and a large also, just convo me before purchasing to check availability!!
This is just one in a series of vintage game themed bangles we’ve been having some fun with. We probably won’t make a lot of these, so if you like it grab it up! We’d also love suggestions and custom requests!
[if you have never purchased handmade before or are new to etsy, please contact us with any questions or concerns you might have before buying. We want you to be completely satisfied with your purchase!]
