i can’t even play bioshock without someone in the room. damn, this makes me feel better.
i have said it before and i will say it again: lego is a clever mofo. they integrated themselves into the video game market by authorizing the titles we all know and love. now it turns out that they have a lego wiimote. it’s an exclusive pre-order viatoys ‘r’ us for $40.
the toys ‘r’ us web site goes on to say that the product comes with a pile of shit:
- The remote features internal accelerometers, an internal speaker, rumble effects and larger buttons for enhanced control during game play.
- Works with most Wii chargers and attachments (using included Standard Battery Cover) and is compatible with Wii MotionPlus.
- Includes Remote, Wrist Strap, 2 Battery Covers, and 31 Mini LEGO tiles with LEGO Tile Separator.
- Officially licensed LEGO product, developed by POWER A.
sad news though: i have been looking into this shit, and it doesn’t seem like it can be bought in canada. then again, for those of us thinking of doing some across the border shopping this holiday season, it’s yet another reason.
recently, i downloaded the lego harry potter years 1 -4 demo and had a crack at it. as always, it was a lego effort i enjoyed. it’s cartoonish, but it’s fun. is it worth $60? no.
on the other hand, i shelled out $50 for lego indiana jones 2. that was worth it. it didn’t really offer me anything beyond the first one, but there was some new shit AND trophies.
bah. who are we kidding? i’m sure i’ll cave in at some point.
another day, another post about game merch. this time it’s in the form of lego. get the lego indiana jones stuff from lego.com. i’m sure you can get this shit in a store, but why go do that? someone will bring it to you. WINNER.
hahaha. there’s something timeless about playing with lego. well, it’s timeless to me. a while back, we talked about the lego mmorg, lego universe. we have some more info for you today, and it comes courtesy of the fine folks at mashable.
“Fans of LEGO will be excited to learn about the first massively multiplayer online game based on the LEGO play experience: LEGO Universe launches to young and old alike on October 26 on both the PC and Mac platforms.
In the game, players are challenged to use the element of “imagination” to solve problems and build solutions for fighting back the Maelstrom, an evil force that must be pushed back in order to restore harmony to the universe. As in other MMO titles, your character adventures through the game’s universe completing quests and accruing new equipment, which determines your Lego minifigure’s stats in lieu of more typical character leveling and experience point progression systems.”

hey friends. sorry i didn’t update. i had a bit o’ fun over the weekend and thought i told the blog to publish itself, but the blog got a little drunk instead. i just sobered it up now. technology fail.
we’re handing out props today to lego. it’s pretty impressive how a classic and popular children’s toy has reinvented itself. kids today seem to be playing less and less with actual toys, and focusing more on digital things: cameras, cell phones, video games – you get the drift.
lego right now has a pile of video games. the list of lego games is long, but my personal faves are:
- lego batman
- lego indiana jones
- lego indiana jones 2
- lego star wars
i’ve spent hours with these titles. i was a bit shocked – it’s not violent, but instead it’s cartoonish mischief at best. you can beat someone up with a shovel, but they almost come back.
anyway, aside from my personal reminiscing, there’s talk of a new kid on the lego block [i meant to do that pun there]. it was announced at CES this year that there’s going to be a big ol’ mmorg coming out, but for the computer. it’s called ‘lego universe‘. you can sign up for the beta test there too.
not gonna lie, but i hope one of the big three jump on it. i might have to buy the lego harry potter years 1-4.
it’s at that stage i will be admitting there is no hope for me.
